1) COVID is not over no matter how much you might wish it were. Churches are often full of old ladies who are at particular risk and involves singing and preaching (high risk activities). More Americans have died of COVID than WWI and WWII combined. Asking why I don't go to church in this way is like....asking why I don't go into a trench. I'm not interested in killing or being killed. Churches are like restaurants on the "full covidiot tier" level.
2) I'm agnostic and while I'm open to spirituality I still am working through trauma on that front. I hope to reconnect with some kind of spirituality, even Christianity, at a later time, but without the toxicity that has permeated so much of white American Christianity.
3) And yeah....that toxicity? I do not want to be part of any religious or spiritual community which has that kind of infection. Its much too much

i used to til college. i thoguth i loved god but i mostly loved my church friends and our youth group escapades. it was a fun time going through puberty ith friends who had permission to sleepover during birthday parties regardless of gender up til high school and who could go to retreats and trips together without them thinking we were fucking around with each other.
