Sunshine Protection

Is your country protecting its sunshine?

I think only Ontario is looking to protect sunshine.

We passed legislation here for permanent daylight saving time, but it will only come into force if Quebec and New York do the same.

I thought it's going to be something dumb but this is actually good.
DST is fucking retarded.

Someone remind me again why daylight savings time was a thing there? I remember someone telling me and thinking it was the stupidest thing ever.

Farmers have always been a disproportionally strong lobby here. They were chimping out because the sun got up too late in wintertime, so they wanted all of society to adapt to their capricious needs.

Honestly fuck farmers, whiniest fucks to have ever existed.

But really it was always stupid because apparently it's easier to change time itself than to shift your schedule an hour.

Oh nonono hoe bros we got too cocky
It's over hoechads

Daylight savings sucks, hate being up late at night and suddenly it's 4AM when I planned on going to sleep around 3.

>society adjusts itself over food production
wow what a wonder

yeah because god forbid you just wake up at a different time as the seasons change

That's the thing, these days the whiny cunty farmers aren't even the ones who actually drive food production, they're just the ones who receives copious amounts of gibsmedats while whining about "muh family farms being replaced by farms that don't spend all of their time and energy whining".

k

Yes

Surprised none of the senators from agricultural states opposed it

You sound angry and irrational

standardized timekeeping is both a spook and a jewish ploy and none can deny it

Corporate farmers which is all farmers now are incredibly scummy people.
t. Grew up rural

Daylight saving time has nothing to do with farmers as they can choose their own work hours and their work is not in any way dependent on the clock, and farmers have been some of the biggest opposers of daylight saving time. Also, daylight saving time isn't in the winter.

About fucking time. We've only known that removing DST would save money for over 50 years now.

For comparison, when modern DST was first proposed in 1907 -- when at the time the energy savings were legit and significant -- the US adopted it in 1918. 11 years to get it done is fucking lightning.

FWIW, when DST was first proposed, it was proved it would save energy/money, because at the time places of business used much more energy per capita for lighting if working hours stretch into the night. That saving was mostly gone with fluorescent lighting.

Some studies show some energy savings still -- a meta-analysis in the US shows about 0.3% energy savings with DST, but that's at a (arguable) significant (if also tiny) economic and health cost.
