I'm going to learn arabic
I'm going to learn arabic
just learn maltese
I'm going to learn mandarin and cantonese.
Learning Classical Arabic is like learning Latin, it's useless outside of academic settings.
Based
Good luck. I heard it is pretty hard. And give up on the idea that you will be able to understand people in all these cunts after learning standard Arabic.
What language do you speak then
Will you ever use that IRL?
Yeah someone in /mena/ once told me that they know people who have been trying to learn it for years and still can't understand shit
Egyptian Arabic. Every "Arab" country speaks their own special dialect of Arabic, even Peninsular Arabs themselves.
why would you do this to yourself
Me too spaghettibro. Sabah khayr.
I see. I'll just go with whatever my university offers then. Worst case scenario I'll be able to LARP with other Italians
Tunis is closer than Rome to where I live and it sounds cool
He's Italian, I don't think he has an issue with learning Latin for larping purposes
Are the dialects that different? It all just sounds the same to me. Are the differences similar to how different the romance languages are from each other?
Literally everything here is in both English and Arabic.

Pretty much any Arab will be able to understand MSA (modern standard Arabic), so its good for communication
Sure, but no one will take you seriously.
I'm not fluent in arabic by any stretch but I grew up around arabic speakers (Lebanese parents).
Hearing lebanese/syrian/sometimes palestinian arabic I can make sense of some of it, but most other dialects sounds like noise to me.
Over time I started understanding rules of how different letters are pronounced (like ﻕ) in other regions which helps a bit.
I did take an arabic class in college but it was primarily a mix of MSA/Egyptian. It basically helped me with being able to "read" and some pronunciation of some of the letters like ح.
Good luck user, wish you the best.
Will they take you less seriously than yelling English at them and hoping they understand?
Good luck akhi
Actually a lot of Egyptians can speak English decently well, so if you speak slowly then maybe.
I've been learning mandarin for the past 12 years and I still have like an a1
