If Scandinavia was wiped from world history, nobody would even notice. It's illogical that Scandinavia should even remain sovereign nations. In an ideal world Norway, Iceland would go to Britain. Sweden and Denmark to Germany.

There was a window of time where the western powers saw germany as a possible bulwark against bolshevism and were very close to side with germany against ussr

Some also speculate during the winter war the western powers wanted the world to focus against ussr (they did the same theyre doing atm in ukraine: arming finns)

Also the fact they didnt open a second front up until 1944 when the soviets were breaking fast into germany (despite stalin requesting it from 1942) is very strange
