>The term was originally coined by novelist and writer Nelson Rodrigues, initially referring to the trauma suffered by Brazilians in 1950 when the national football team was defeated by Uruguay's national team in the final match of the 1950 World Cup, which was held at the MaracanĂ£ in Rio de Janeiro. The estimated 200,000 spectators at the stadium that day were stunned into an eerie silence after the match was concluded, some so distraught they committed suicide inside the stadium.[1] Brazil would recover, at least when it comes to soccer, in 1958, winning the World Cup for the first of five times,[2] but the idea persisted, cropping up again the next time Brazil hosted the World Cup in 2014 when it was defeated in the semifinal match against Germany by a score of 7–1.

It still exists. But it is in no way different from provincial Americans trying to overcompensate and list the "advantages" of living in the US compared to Europe.
When are you getting Karelia back from Russia?
Less of a defeat than the one we imposed on you in 1822

>When are you getting Karelia back from Russia?
What's the point when pretty much all the finns there escaped to Finland anyway when they originally annexed it and the Russians have turned the region into a complete shithole.
It had to be a fucking Portuguese to give your own independence you lazy fuck!

FODA-SE
So the Uralic rump state is unable to recover its territorial integrity? Embarrassing.
Brazilians soldiers kicked your military expeditions in all war threaters. Brazilian war ships even sailed right next to the Portuguese coastline. Embarrassing. Spain at least managed to resist for 15 years.
Brazil SHOCKED
Germany ROCKS

Oh lusobros nonononono
As I said the territory is now worthless. Sure it has historical value and there are a lot of finns who at least joke about getting Karelia back but realistically it's a region populated by russians living in dilapitated cities they have neglected for years.
The original term is complexo de vira-lata (stray dog complex), when we call someone vira-lata we aren't talking about their ethnicity, we are calling them docile dogs without home. It's a term used to describe Brazilians that hate Brazil.
Just google image and see what you get.
This article in Wikipedia was written on bad faith using a biased translation. Our national identity is based on the combination of colonizers, natives and slaves; this foundational myth is very solid and has been promoted since independence.
A handful of complexed "white" Brazilians from recent immigration you see on Any Forums aren't going to change that
