It's volumetric, basically if you hit a weird pixel the volumetric goes apeshit and it doesn't pen.
Happens a lot with Panthers, if you hit them between the hull and sideskirt.

Volumetric is nice because you can't suffer from bullshit trapshots, but also bad because of what i said.
