you still need jet fighters for air superiority because they can maneuver, then you need 2nd line of electronic warfare jets and awacs to suppress ground radars, then you need standoff ground attack missiles to suppress air defense, and only after investing trillion dollars in air power you might as well just use helicopter gunships for recon and ground support

No one said UAVs are for defending the airspace. They're offensive assets. Drones are a pillar of the modern army, they have plenty of uses, are cheap to operate, can be deployed from anywhere and no one gets killed if they go down.
