Why is Iceland such a popular tourist destination when it is so unequivocally, overwhelmingly bleak and depressing?

because its interesting and not depressing

The same reason people go to the UK

because it's pure primordial kino.
you may now respond to me with a soyjack of >EXPOSED GRASS HILLS

>overwhelmingly bleak and depressing
Just like jolly old England

Oh boy if you think Iceland is depressing I guess you haven't been to eastern europe yet.

the UK has
>a fuckload of cities
>a fuckload of historical sites
>a fuckload of national parks
>trees, moorlands, diverse scenery across the different countries
>actual things to do

iceland has
>perpetual cloud coverage (more than the UK)
>pitch black winters
>a few modest settlements here and there

I have nothing against the Icelandic people, but my soul would slowly fade away if I had to live there.

>>a fuckload of national parks
>>trees, moorlands, diverse scenery across the different countries

Relatively speaking, across the small land area of the UK.

No country on earth is as diverse in landscape as the USA but your country is fucking huge

>popular tourist destination
is it tho? surprised why would anyone visit country in europe other than italy

not many ppl want to see castles surrounded by chavs that you can see all other the world anyway

Both places next to North Pole or South Pole is very touristic... Some monkes pay gibs just to go to Tierra del Fuego, in Argensimia

imagine if they still had trees

It has cool volcanoes and shit

I lived my live in resort cities. Even the sheer thought of weather without sun for months with blistering snow that last for the better part of the year, depressing landscapes stretching all the way to the eye can see, hills of ice under the dark blue, pastel colored sky seems so foreign and exotic to me. Scandis live in a different world.

>my absolutely paradise home country is... le boring
>that depressing, grey, dull, dark scandinavian hellhole is... le good and exotic

why do third worlders always do this

scandi forests and norwegian mountains are kino though

i don't think he implied "le good" part

This is what my city have, Parque Domingos Coelho... And is a shit, the only atraction of city

Yeah I get that a lot from tourists that come here and say this is a literal paradise while working remotely and earning money in one of the big boy currencies. I met a brit guy at the airport who settled in antalya, fluent in turkish, and he was the happiest man in the world. His default expression was happiness. I don't know how firsties find this place so alluring if they aren't planning on going back after a week or two.

Because they look at it the same way as amusement park. Like the black sand beach Reynisfjara. Whole lot of tourists die there every year, swept into the sea because these retards think of it this way. Its all so beautiful and quirky to them.

because if you are from a dark northern meme country like britain, it's impossible to be sad when you're in a sunshine resort country like Turkey

because it is beautiful. Pic i took four years ago.
Also it's wild to go somewhere where there are no trees and the primary colors are black and green

Scotland has landscapes like this but at the same time also has actual foliage

its funny to see those tourists take pictures of these modern arts that have no history, theyre only there for tourists to be interested.
no one here likes icelandic """"art"""
