Bangladesh (formerly East Pakistan, but ethnically and culturally Bengali) fought a war with Arabic and Islamist supremacist west Pakistan (ethnically Punjabi), to protect their language, culture and heritage, in 1961.
Interestingly only India and USSR supported Bangladesh, US and NATO supported the Islamists.
