Why is your water brown instead of blue/green?
Camden Garcia
That "city" looks like ten cities packed into one. It's intense.

The water is that colour from the Yangtze river, I'm pretty sure.
Ian Lopez
It's full of mud because it's fast moving and big

Is the aquamarine section a lot slower, or something?
Isaac Davis
The tan color comes from natural sediment from the mountains which the Yangtze flows through although there are high levels of human pollution in certain segments. That picture is old. And the green water from the Jialing River

Ah, I should have guessed it was convergence. Thanks user.

Why do east/southeast asians go all in on modernity, making massive, huge modern skyscraper behemoths and euros cry and pee and seethe and shart themselves at the mere suggestion that they should build at least one (1) skyscraper in their shitty little river hub "city"?
Jason Davis
Because most of those are young cities. Although some chinese cities are ancient.
Most European cities are extremely old, and many of them trace their roots already to the Roman era - or even older. Most European cities were built ready already centuries ago, and the industrialization started in Europe earlier than in Asia. Most European countries industrialized already in the 19th century.
While there are old towns in SEAsia as well. Singapore has been founded only in 1819 - before Raffles it was merely a fisherman village of 100 or so inhabitants. The industrialization in SE Asia really began in the 1960s, which saw a rapid boom of growth in SE Asian towns and cities.
This is also the reason the majority of the buildings of the SE Asian cities are relatively new. There are few centuries’ old buildings and architecture in SE Asian cities. Most of the buildings there are younger than fifty years, while European city buildings may well date to Middle Ages.
