Can your country survive getting cut off from the world?
Mine probably can. Maybe.

We are self sufficient in food. In fact we grow so much excess food that we give it to African countries for free. We also make our own clothes. All the clothes I buy are made in India. We have a lot of civil engineers and labour so we can make our houses.
Thus the basic needs food, clothes and shelter are met.
survive? probably
thrive? no
>we give it to African countries for free
>mfw they are doing it for free
Probably not
It depends on which African country tho, during covid-19 Kenya gave us food. Before covid-19 we have 270 tonnes of food to poor African nations.
Sure.
Foreign trade is the lowest of all BRICS compared to GDP, but being cut off would completely fuck us over. We're highly reliant on imports of fertilizers, oil and medicine.
it's worth noting that our food production (and everybody else's, really) would collapse without the import of fertilizers
Water and food wise were safe, and even if we weren't, the Netherlands is right next door. Our economy would go to shit tho, were pretty reliant on exporting stuff to the rest of the world, tho I guess it's better to have 10 extra dish washers lying around than none
Yes you are correct. I didn't think of that while writing the post. Thanks for mentioning.
We only need fertilizer to produce grain abroad and to feed cattle. 70% of the food that arrives on your table is produced by small and medium producers.
Food security is different from self sufficiency.
Probably. We have natural gas. We have agriculture.
Our entire economy would collapse though, because we're a trade nation.
Venezuela is enough proof that we wouldn't.
