A fully vegan diet is not unly risky, but not recommended for children and on top of that it would've been impossible a century ago because half of the meat replacements would not exist yet and the other half would be obscure plants from the other side of the world not available in Europe. Even for adult vegans it's highly recommended that they take vitamin B12 supplements because vitamin B12 is only naturally found in animal products.
