Have any of you guys noticed that they portraied the Lighthouse of Alexandria on that map?
Some Arabian merchants told Koreans about the story of this huge lighthouse up in Egypt and we just kept imagined about it even after it was long gone since we had no other updated information about it.

Where's dokdo?

I think that's California, originally believed to be an island

looks like a balls sack

Did they not know how rivers work?

Pretty sure that's supposed to be Japan. Zipang was an old name for it

God up there in the top left-hand corner deeply regretting his creation.

Looks freaky
The right side is super detailed and precise.
And the left side is unrecognizable.
Yet no stories about the pyramids, which still stand tall. Dumb merchant.

>Koreans have been calling China 'middle country' because their forefathers actually bought 'China is the centre of the world' shit

Just means they were even less impressive than the lighthouse

>no stories about the pyramids
Confucianism.
The first group of Koreans who visited there was told that it is a gigantic graveyard of the ancient emperors.
They refused to take a tour since they thought it's not proper etiquette to step on a foreign emperor's grave.
They wrote that they were disgusted at people who were making money by letting tourists climb up the grave of someone, which is totally unacceptable according to Confucian culture.
It also made Koreans disgusted at westerners when Germans invaded Korea and shoveled up the grave of King to steal some artifacts. Koreans thought of Germans as barbarians at that moment and rejected to make any relations.

I always enjoy this map. Thank you.
