>There are people who wear shoes indoors

I thought this only happened in movies

I unfortunately live in a country where I can't force cute girls that come in my appartment to take their shoes off
I suffer

I don't wear shoes in my own home but I don't force people to take off their shoes when they visit.

t. Italy

No one wears shoes inside the house here

im like this other spaniard
it feels weird to force other people to take em off, i actually wish it was automatic

they don't eat from the ground like the rest of the world.

This but Greek

Yes, please explain being this barbaric and/or rude to leave your shoes on.

This is completely wrong. In Switzerland, we also take off our shoes.

false we do not wear shoes inside

in Sweden it is automatic but I sometimes tell people to keep their shoes, if it's just a short visit to pick something up or whatever

the floors are dirty

because it's super trad to not have your shoes on
imagine the smell in the room and all the stinky feet around you

I have guest slippers if they want to wear something inside.
I'd shoot anyone if they stepped on my carpet with their disgusting outdoor shoes.

We don't use carpets in the Mediterranean as it isn't needed for the temperature, so usually the dirt and shit you bring to the house by your shoes doesn't stay and can easily be cleaned. Taking your shoes off in your own house is more like a personal choice.

Also, this reddit map is innacurate, people in England and Ireland take their shoes off.

shoes off if you go upstairs, shoes on otherwise. but me i'm always barefoot

I have visited people in Belgium, France and Italy. All take their shoes off.

In Paris the sidewalks are full of dogshit, so keeping the shoes on is disgusting.

I think it means that if someone comes around or you're dropping in and out you take your shoes off? Clearly no one wears shoes when they're just lounging around home

South Europe has less snow, rain and shitty weather, it's not used to systematically take off shoes 1/2 of the year because your boots are full of snow and dirt.

It also has more terraces, balconies, easing the hard border between inside and outside. Floors are often made of tiles and terazzo, making it much easier to clean.

It's also about hospitality -- if you invite someone in, you don't want to have them bend over and take off their shoes and perhaps feel uncomfortable. On the other hand, most people would not wear shoes inside their own home, unlike americans.

based

yeah because why would you want dog shit on your carpet?

we dont wear shoes on inside, nobody here does

no they take their shoes off even when dropping round

Seems a bit tyrannical. My carpets aren't that great though
