While in the west clerical powers consistently overpowered and checked the tyranny of kings with thier own power in the east this was not the case. This was furthor exasperated by the mongols, who in their own tyranny added another layer of subjugation and engrained the future autocratic slave vassal like of rus.

Notibily the estates of the church and the burghers would be eventually crushed in the west. Cluny was once the center of monastic power, the largest horde of walth and most massive cathedral complex was completley erased in the french revolution. The pure power of the eastern tsar was almost somewhat admirable. The commonwealth in contrast while still being uncivilized and eastern would reject ceaserism for an elective monarchy and sought to copy the west. While liberals would find this admirable conservatives like de maistre who spent much of his time in st.petersburg looked at the polish as rational fools and predicted that thier system was too fair to outlive the autocratic princes around them.
