i'm a south african citizen. rules are a bit different there. DO NOT WALK ANYWHERE full-stop. don't walk to the shop, don't walk in the local scenery area. you drive from your home, to your beach, shop, gym, whatever, you do not walk. If you walk you will be robbed/shot/raped.
DO NOT go to townships or ghetto areas. DO NOT go to the city centre at night. HAVE a self defense option. that can be home security or just a club to beat someone who comes up to your car window with.
other than that you'll probably be safe, but always be vigilant you can very easily end up in a shop robbery situation or be hijacked. if you're hijacked, do not fucking look at them just keep your eyes on the road and take them to their destination and pray to God.
