Isn't the UK either London plus Metro area or deep countryside of North England?
Do you have medium-sized cities (that have jobs so people want to stay there)?

I tend to prefer the extremeties. Sometimes, I just need a nice trail to walk on, but at other times, I want to hunker down at a nice exquisite restaurant in the middle of a sprawling metropolis. Suburbans have neither of the two; too balanced for my preferences, so it doesn't cut it. Fortunately, I have a vacation home in Lake Tahoe that I can visit from time to time and get some fresh air on a hiking trail with friends and family.

I spent the first 28 years of my life in the countryside and I longed all the time for something more
