How legitimate are these separatist states in Ukraine? I literally only ever heard of them today

not legitimate but no one cares

zero legitimacy, they only exist as an excuse for Putin to destabilize Ukraine

What fo you mean by legitimate?
They legitimately want to fuck off from Ukraine. Ukraine doesn't want to recognize them obviously

Should also take eastern Germany to be honest.

>legitimate
this word has no meaning

>they only exist as an excuse for Putin to destabilize Ukraine
Horseshit. They have a history of wanting to be seperate

By legitimate I guess I mean how much popular support they have. I would consider them legitimate if most people in those areas don't want to be part of Ukraine.

Then yes pretty legitimate

Ameriscums support all autonomist movements in the world, except when it is in the USA or for pro-Russian separatists.

Theyre legitimate in the sense that they control territory. What else do you need?

Now? zero!
But when the winter comes and the first german start shivering from cold their independence, or russian annexation, will be reasonable.

>it rhymes with Ralestine

No idea
They claim three times the area they posses
I reckon people under their control want to be independent, but not sure about the rest

nope
they exist because ukraine is a multinational country that is unitarian politically and has a pretty high degree of nationalism in their bid to get a strong separate identity, obviously some of its regions that were predominantly russian didn't like it and it lead initially to tensions and then to a direct revolt, especially after odessa massacre

obviously they also exist because russia supported them when they revolted in 2014 otherwise ukraine would have suppressed them by force

None are legitimate. The dissolution of the USSR was illegal, therefore all post-soviet states are illegitimate

Come to think of it, aren't Belarussians ethnically Russian? Why are they a separate country?

Don't care not my problem. News are so full of that now I have to watch porn instead.

I don't 100% get it but its like this.
So.
Cold war = USSR and USA were enemies. I don't know who started it (probably us thanks to red scare propaganda but it could be them it could be both). It was a big ol thing. Lots of proxy wars, lots of keeping each other off our borders.
USSR decided they wanted a new era. They broke apart and entered the world as sovereign nations, including Russia. However, instead of meeting Russia halfway as allies, we still ended up treating them as an enemy. Russia did still want a certain amount of dominance in Europe and NATO/EU/USA didn't want to let them have that. They were blocked from NATO, blocked from EU.
Now, we are pretty much in Cold War II with Russia. More or less. And like Cold War I, Russia wants to keep a buffer zone around them, and they are empowering breakaway micronations in their border states. Finland and Baltics already joined NATO, Russia was scared if Ukraine joins NATO/EU.

ALL OF IT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF RUSSIA HAD BEEN ALLOWED TO JOIN EU/NATO DAY ONE. KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN PLACES LIKE TURKEY APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP--ITS NOT JUST ABOUT HAVING A COOL KIDS CLUB ITS ABOUT MAINTAINING PEACE IN EUROPE SO THEY DONT KILL EACH OTHER. LET TURKEY IN AND PRAY THAT RUSSIA TRIES GIVING EU ANOTHER CHANCE.

Any Forums INSISTED that it was gonna be a nothing burger and that Putin didn't want to start a war and it was all media hype to rake in pageclicks but if Any Forums has taught me anything it's that the average Any Forumsdiot is an absolute full retard.

Shit sucks and innocent people are going to be hurt and killed, especially in Ukraine but in Russia as well due to sanctions. Oh yeah and there's still a global pandemic going on, variant BA.2 is terrifying and nobody is doing shit to stop it. So there's that.

No, but it's the same story as Ukraine, common origins and close cultural ties

it's winter right now in Europe you retard

no, there is a separate belorussian nation and language

the situation is different in belorussia because historically there weren't any serious national tensions there unlike how it was in ukraine, its nationalism was very prominent in the russian civil war in 1918-1921 already

you know what i'm talking about.

Who gives a shit?

I want potato chips and lihis

nah you dont get it at all.

dictatorships always need outside enemies. this is literally it.

we only had peace in the 90s and 00s because russia was too weak for major agressions back then. in the 90s they begged us for money and debt forgiveness, which we did, austria gave billions to russia. now they threaten us...

The West didn't want to bother, Russia was too big and poor, it upset the balance of power, etc. So they kept sweeping Russia under the rug with no regard for our concerns and how their actions affect us. Didn't help that the US kept in power a retard president who was running the country into the ground just because he wasn't a commie. Over time, the relations deteriorated and too much baggage piled up.
>Finland and Baltics already joined NATO
No, Finland is not in the NATO, though it's closely aligned with it

*yawn* its this thread all over again

austria uses the german language almost 100% but an overwhelming majority here is against unity with germany. your map means nothing.

>dictatorships always need outside enemies. this is literally it.
Russia didn't become a dictatorship overnight. I am not sure if you could even call it that now. Putin's policies right now are not the same as 7 years ago, or 10 years ago and earlier.

Sure a few years of history, kek.

What means something to you retard? Go there and speak with people, see what they think, you think if the OTAN pushes one narrative you'll find much unbiased info?

that's bs
how are we threatening you?
if anything it's nato expansion threatens russia

and russia wasn't forgiven the soviet debts, we has paid them

Finland won't join NATO as long as suomettuneet boomers are alive. Your time window to liberate us is closing on 10 years.

>dictatorships always need outside enemies. this is literally it.
Guess we're a dictatorship then since it's our government that essentially made Russia into an enemy

>I am not sure if you could even call it that now
its obvious as fuck man
