Before someone asks we can't say "computer" because it's already a verb in French, meaning "to compute", so we had to come up with something else

in german "Rechner" is also used. It literally means calculator and calculator is called Taschenrechner "pocket calculator"

Computer is literally called information counter in Turkish

But the real Danish word for it is "Datamat". Hardly anyone knows this, but it's true. Computer is a loan word that has eclipsed the real word (Although more people refer to a computer as a PC and a laptop as a "bærbar", but that doesn't charge the fact that we have a perfectly fine word for them.

datamat is just as latin as computer
only iceland and faroe islands have sovl

Why did they block us? We mostly use the native construction "tietokone", lit "knowledge machine". And versions of it in speech such as kone or tietsikka.
