Chinese do better at math because our counting system is better for children to understand. Western methods for counting lead children to have a poor understanding of numbers and their relationships to each other. It is part of our difference in language.

Sun Yat Sen got his ideas of Democracy from Europe and the US. It was just twisted by an authoritarian regime that knew it's western definitions were a threat.

Culturally, chinese place a heavy importance on grade school and less so college, it's the reverse in the states and alot of the west.

Their academic struggles are to do the best they can in grade school then to fuck off in college, meanwhile for us we fuck off in grade school and take college super seriously.

Things can be said about both methods of looking at it, on one hand baseline knowledge of stuff like mathematics would be better for the average person but entering a professional field they would be worse as their colleges suck big time.
