yeah certainly
it's a large country and it btw won eurovision more than russia even if one of the wins was a political crap
its pop culture is pretty much the same as in russia and they are cross-linked though

I’m sure a lot has changed in 2014 but would a popular film or song in Russia end up finding its way to Ukraine?

I know VK was also popular in Ukraine but I dunno if that’s changed in 2014. Social media is cancer anyways

Ukrainian movies are way more popular than Russian ones. But Western Netflix tier content and Hollywood movies are number 1 here
Talking about music, you can hear a lot of Russian stuff here but Ukrainian music is quite popular too. Western music is still dominant

What’s some good Ukrainian music? Ive heard metal is big out there

Overall, we definitely have our own culture industry and it became much more independent from the Russian one after 2014, Ukrainian language becomes more and more dominant in terms of popular culture every year but Western pop culture is still the most popular

What do you usually listen to? I mean, we have a lot of pop-music, electronic music, rap music, different kinds of ethno-folk stuff, I don't know what's good for you exactly

>Western music

I am so sorry

It's quite diverse actually
Still better then contemporary Russian music

You pooped up the whole planet with that one

Honestly, I've been listening to a lot of classical because I >work from home and it helps me get work done.

I guess what's the most popular song that isn't Western right now

No
our music charts absolute the same

Yeah. Sorry about that. I just assume most people like to some kind of EDM by now, which isn't really different country to country

Music during the pandemic has been a gigantic meme.

Doubt it
I worked with people from Western Ukraine and they all spoke Russian to each other and played Russian songs on the radio ("Radio Ukraina" but songs in Russian. Curious!)

>I guess what's the most popular song that isn't Western right now
I have no idea because I don't listen to normie garbage, so I'll just shill my waifu
Go listen to this for SOVL

They make music but it's in Russian so everyone thinks it's Russian music

yeah you ahmed know better, there are a lot of music in Ukrainian

I asked one of them and he said him and most others were from some villages near our border
Only like 3 people out of over 20 ever spoke any Ukrainian, and they still mixed it with Russian while speaking
The rest only spoke Russian
It was very eye-opening tbqh

Maybe they were speaking Ukrainian but you thought it was Russian? Languages are extremely similar

>trying to sing in english when you have soviet middle school-tier accent
big cringe

Bruh, western Ukrainians even refuse to speak Russian during airport check-ins, even though they know it better than English, you're just lying

Yeah, I don't like it either, it's just what people listen to and talk about these days

>most others were from some villages near our border
That's impossible. They bearly know russian. Their language is sort of Ukrainian dialect with many polish loanwords.

Just my impression from watching music videos on YouTube. Like half of the stuff is from Ukrainian artists but everyone thinks they're Russian. it's funny when they get credit for your music

My family is Russian-speaking but we always switch to Ukrainian when travelling because we don't want foreigners to think we're stinky Russians
I'm not even meeting, it's guaranteed to improve service quality and friendliness in hotels/restaurants/stores
