>American written fantasy
>90% of the cast is Bri ish
What causes this? Why dont americans like to see their own in a fantasy setting?
American written fantasy
>fantasy is almost always medieval themed
>America has no medieval history
>America has British history
>Britain has medieval history
Only if it’s written in like the medieval period or whatever. It doesn’t feel right listening to a knight for instance speaking in an American accent.
Fun fact, Peter Dinklage, aka the guy in your pic is actually American.
but the midge is american tho, he even sounds american in the show
think everyone knows, his accent was fucking dogshit
What movie?
The Shawshank Redemption
Chronicles of Narnia
Lord of the rings
Snow White and the seven dwarfs
>Programme set in Rome
>Everyone has an English accent
Americans use British accents in fantasy settings because it's impossible to take anyone with an American accent seriously. They either sound like a cartoon character or like they're trying to sell you something. This is why villains in films are also often British (or Russian or German).
an italian accent in english would be so much worse
Pastime of Kingchairs
>program set in Rome
>everyone has an Italian American accent
Fight club
>fantasy based on european history & folklore
>75% of the cast is black or brown
because the show takes place in bizarro britain
American media in a nutshell:
>need to make character evil
>give him russian accent
>need to make a character weird or crazy
>give him german accent
>need to make a character funny and light-hearted
>give him spanish or italian accent
>need to make a character sophisticated and intelligent
>give him british accent
I like the gimmick where in a fantasy world all the normal people have southern English accents, and then the wild men are all Scottish or scouse or something
british is also evil sometimes
just foreign anything will do
