This has got to be the most insanely regarded American shit ive ever read
but he meant mi/h SLASH km/h retard
He displayed both units for convenience you absolute fucking brainlet.
Dogshit desu
@159263881
IT TAKES 2 HOURS (TIME) TO TRAVEL 105 mi (mi = MILES) WHICH IS ABOUT EQUAL TO 169 km (KILOMETERS)
>Polish intellectuals
our trains are slower on average than their 19th century counterparts
whats a train?
We have one of the densest and most heavily used rail networks in Europe, because of our ridiculous population density in England.
Lots of trains from commuters up to 125mph intercity trains.
We also have a 186mph connection to the French TGV network, used by Eurostar.
Expresses from London to Edinburgh travel 393 miles in 4hours20minutes.
Isnt it shit due to privitazition? There were much debate here on should we privitize train services but the debatet is dead now how you guys did that
We're building more rail (mostly frieght) infrastructure for the arctic region since when the arctic sea becomes ice free most of the logistics hubs will be there. Norwegians are already building ports there
it works well but its just expensive as fuck
I want HSR in my cunt... normal lines take a day just to go anywhere and checking in at the airport are for faggots
We also have the speed record for diesel trains (148mph, but only 125mph in service) and third rail electric trains (108mph, but 100mph in service)
Yes and no. It was "privatised" but in a shitty way that actually meant private companies had to bid for 4000 page government contracts which gave them no scope for actual competition.
It was literally the worst of both worlds with private businesses making profit, and a billion pages of government regulation.
Covid meant the government had to (quietly, because they're """conserverative""") nationalise it all. From now it's just going to be run with management contracts where the government give a business a contract to run it, for a fmanagement fee that's based on service levels, with the government keeping any profit. This is how rail in London and the Thameslink franchise has worked for 15 years now and it's much better.
Here's a good explainer on why franchising is shit: youtube.com
There's some fun with this - the ticket structure here is ridiculously complicated.
It means our season tickets and peak time tickets are expensive as fuck, but for off-peak travel with a ticket booked 8-12 weeks ahead of time you can get some of the cheapest tickets in Europe as they're up to 75% discounted. I'm talking London to Edinburgh for £20. In a lot of europe you get zero, or up to 20% discount for booking early.
So depending on the comparison you do we've got the most expensive and the cheapest tickets around.

I love our mini TGV

We also have an ICE-based train from Germany
And a train in the shinkansen family
trains are just giant metal dicks on wheels
