Why are the Latin American posters in here in such denial that their modern pop culture (at least as far as music and fashion goes) is just a rip off of black American culture?
>hurr just because our pop musicians rap, R&B sing, and dress like black American rappers doesn't mean it has anything to do with them!
I even hear reggaetoneros use nigga in their songs sometimes

On social media I even see Latin Americans take pictures like black people
Like the women doing the sassy black girl sort of look

Furthermore, there is no alternative to reggaeton/hip hop in the popular music space
Not even normie girl pop like we have here in the US (like Olivia Rodrigo)
It's all Bad Bunny rapping in a slurred voice over dembow and trap beats

Bump

Bump

as all other ountries on earthh?

No, not even the US is like that
We have non-hip hop oriented pop music too

Chicanos listen to mexican music and rap/hip hop. We hate Reggaeton and anything sudaca

Most Chicanos I know only like hip hop and reggaeton

So do us. most listened artists in br are mostly br country music

We like hip hop and rap but not Reggaeton

Then why do Bad Bunny and J Balvin tour in a bunch of CHI cities?

pretty much all countries nowadays have a strong rap and trap scene tho

Yes but it's usually not just hip hop
That's a Latin American and maybe Caribbean phenomenon

take a look at the most listened artsts in spotify brazil, not a single rapper.

Reggaeton is more degenerate than rap/hip hop and it comes from caribbean dancehall not american black music.

Isn't "funk" an offshoot of hiphop?
It comes from both. It has more in common with modern hip hop than the 80s dancehall it originally came from

no?
plus its mostly br country music and northeastern pop.

Modern Reggaeton is a mix of american pop music and dancehall. It has very little in common with actual hip hop.

>very little in common with hip hop
I listen to reggaeton and you're very wrong
They rap on literally every song, and like modern hip hop (Drake in particular), the Choruses feature R&B hooks. Plus they dress like American rappers.

It has nothing in common with pop, it's 80% hip hop and 20% dancehall.
Modern dancehall is heavily hip hop influenced anyway (look up Skeng, all of my Jamaican coworkers listen to him all day long)
