Gentrification or "rehabilitating" a neighborhood are just ways of saying replace the residents and call it fixed.

Just look at argument put forth in Disney's Pocahontas. John Smith tells her that they'll teach the natives how to use the land and make better houses. When she protests that their way of is fine and works for them, he responds with "that's because you don't know any better".
