Do you think 2d animation is 100% dead and unnecessary now that 3D animation has essentially surpassed it in every way?

Arcane is the only 3d film I've ever seen that made 2d feel obsolete. Mostly because in many scenes you can't actually tell that it's 3d and it looks like a 2d painting. We are very far from Arcane levels of quality in anything outside of Arcane.

Why do you watch cartoons when you so clearly hate animation? Do you just love being associated with pedophiles?

There was a pixar video showing how 2d can be implemented in 3d but since the indie scene and western animation is much more popular no. Personally im not for such but, If i were to be a real animator, id stick with indie shit.

how does 3D surpass 2D?

Other countries make animated movies aside from the USA user.

The USA is the only country that has entirely given up on 2d movies

Easier to create on-model dynamic, detailed shots with larger scale. This is why Disney started using CGI in their 2D movies.

Richard Williams laughs at you

Other countries making animated movies has nothing to do with the point.

It does
other countries still make 2d films meaning it isn't 100% dead and unnecessary.

My Fathers Dragon comes out this year

No one care about what they make aside from the occasional jank from japan

its already dead in the west

but less artistic expression

How?

sculpting has much less raw emotion than painting
being confined to a 3D space leaves less room for expression

>sculpting has much less raw emotion than painting

Are you going to legit say something like this when there are many famous sculptors?

White people did it.
That's literally it.

yes

>Vox video essay

This is unironically kind of true.
And the mindfuck is that it's not photo-realistic drawings that impress the most but stylized, often cartoonish stuff.

Nothing in it is editorialized and everything is factual. Whats wrong with it?
