>cartoon has "deep lore" and a continuous storyline that requires viewing previous episodes to fully understand what's going on
>still sticks rigidly to the status quo and routinely resets all character development or relationships
but why? literally the worst of both worlds

What if it's a comic? Does it work okay then?
Also that just sounds like gravity falls and not much else.

Actually forget the second part I remembered there's at least 4 shows that do that

uh name 5 examples

but Beast Wars isn't an example of that

amshittia

can you name any? shows with standard plot plus "lore" are my jam, if it actually gets fleshed out

Adventure Time
Amphibia
Avatar: The Last Airbender
DuckTales 2017
Steven Universe

Kim Possible
Ben 10
Danny Phantom
American Dragon: Jake Long
Secret Saturdays

>avatar
>resets to status quo and character development
what lore is there in kim possible?

>Steven Universe
how

>Avatar: The Last Airbender
What?

>resets to status quo and character development
Yes.

the characters develop a lot with the show though

I don't think you know what status quo means.

Mythical Monkey Powers. That's the lore.

Why does it matter?
Do cartoons only have to be looney-tunes or spongebob type continuity or a continual plot?
A show being only plot based without a status quo is hard to maintain or renew. It doesn't make sense unless you already have the whole story planned out from the onset and if it does succeed people would want more. It makes all the sense in the world to have a status quo if you intend to make money.

VentureKino says otherwise.

Okay, touche, it is a great show.
But how often can the average creator pull that off?

>Where do Monarch's henchmen get all these weapons?
>They, uh, steal them from some military themed villain called Sgt. Hatred
>Oh ok, lets go with that

>Hey, remember that time we mentioned Sgt. Hatred? Lets turn him into an actual character
>Neat

>You know what, lets make Sgt. Hatred one of the main characters because why the fuck not

Adventure Time didn't shake up the status quo too much but it did have some noticeable changes

>A show being only plot based without a status quo is hard to maintain or renew.
2017's Legend Quest was that and it only lasted one season. The next season was a reboot.
