Its interesting because they already had a literal charles manson insert in the earlier part of the lore. Must have rubbed off on him.
Probably also worth mentioning that maybe it had something to do with his time in prison. Of course murdoc isn't the sort of person to be born again, but I can see him being inspired for deviousness there.
