I mean, I kind of get where they're coming from. The world can be kind of a terrible place if you're a woman, and there's this constant sense of being intimidated by men. Like, a man could literally do almost anything to a woman, and - for all her power and position - she'd be fucked before anyone could help her.
Look at that video from China, where a group of local thugs spontaneously beat the shit out of women for not playing along with their advances. That's effortless for any guy, he can just beat a woman into unconsciousness. It's not even very difficult.
We get female superheroes because they're trying to get around the whole "Women only have as much power as men allow them to have" thing. So they're sort of powerful on their own, even if it's a fantasy, you know?
Kind of like how Dust is sort of a fantasy Muslim with her sexy hijab, who can blast human-traffickers into dripping bones. Meanwhile, over in Afghanistan, the Taleban laugh at the very idea of women's rights and the men were generally happy to side with them (Like the guy who went "I will marry three of you in one day as soon as the Taleban get to Kabul.")
