True, a good sign of a mary sue is that they never struggle and everyone loves them. Her parents treated her like a fragile little thing, she was insecure about her appearance, she would get scared, embarassed, etc.

Toph blindness was never a part of her personality, that's why the blind jokes worked so well, she was so competent even while being blind that the rest of the cast often forgot that she was blind. If a character like her was made today she would go on a rant about how her life is so much more difficult than anyone else's every time any of the other characters went through a personal struggle.

No, blindness was definitely part of her personality as her rough and rebellious personality came as a response to the coddling and special treatment she received from her parents due to her blindness. Nah. If Toph was woke propaganda, her being blind wouldn't have any real downsides. But the writers were smart and made it obvious she was constantly compensating for her issues rather than just living with it, like how she wasn't fond of situations where her feet aren't planted on firm terra like with air travel or being trapped in the desert. Plus, she'd be the absolute bestest prodigy earthbender in the kingdom when she wasn't compared to King Bumi, she was just the best teacher for Aang because she understood the basics better than anyone and it's the area Aang needed the most help in.
