What really ruined it was getting released to the public and then the "clever" puberty/sexual metaphors were shown to be blindingly obvious because the makers are too stunted to notice that they only seem clever and hidden to themselves.

It was a tryhard-to-be-edgy-without-actually-being-edgy movie whose financial success was almost entirely dependent on the CNN-Fox News shitflinging about maxi pads, girls having periods, and pedophile groomers.
Instead CNN was broadcasting the VDV being slaughtered at Hostomel Airport and Fox News T-72s having their turrets ripped off by NLAWs. The film was basically kicked off the front-page of every newspaper to the point where Mr. Enter criticizing the movie for omitting the aftermath of 9/11 was considered the most noteworthy review of it.

Turning Red for all of its faults, is at least a 100% original premise and story. Lightyear is a shitty reboot no one wanted and didn't ask for. Any Forums's userbase arguably benefited more from the film than Disney and Pixar did.
