Monsters university makes a point that he will never be a good scarer because he's "not scary"

I get the message of you can study and work towards something but still fail at the end of the day, but I feel like he could be scary and the movie trying to say he couldn't is kind of bull.

Like what if you saw him just smiling at you in the dark or staring at you silently like this? Maybe he should have done that instead of a roar.

Scaring is used to capture screams which are a magical source of energy. Being silently unsettling won't acomplish that.

His destiny was never to scare but to make others laugh.... through his pain

That’d be more creepy than scary. Most kids would probably just be frozen in shock seeing that instead of screaming.

He’s too round and small. Round shapes don’t strike fear
Sully looks like he could maul your face off

I think he could still elicit a scream by being strange rather than scary, like what if he did what Squishy did in his scaring round of the movie? Going more for a jumpscare.

Oops the gif didn't work, here's a vid : youtube.com/watch?v=DTwlDB21HyQ

"You can try and try and try and just... not pull it off. The people who say that everything is possible if you try hard enough? They're lying. Don't throw away years chasing something that isn't going to happen. Look into your options." That's way too important a moral to sacrifice just because "well if you think about it, kinda, he might be scary if done right?"

Good point, I understood the moral and will say how Mike has nothing really scary or threatening about him when you analyze how he looks. I guess the only "scary" aspect he could sustain is just being an out-of-place unusual entity to humans.

Like we get the context of the movie that he's basically a person with a life and no extra ordinary capabilities, but to a little kid and the dark you would have no idea what he could do. Like what if a kid thought he would be eaten by him with his giant mouth, or like he would have powers with his eye. I'm not trying to dismiss the moral but this thread is just a thought.

Squishy can teleport, and if he fucks up trying to imitate it the kid could cry instead of scream.

He would have made an excellent teacher

>it's ok to be a loser
lol

a fucking giant eye in the middle of the night can be scary
maybe some device that allows him float and red paint would have done the work
imagine that shit emerging from your closet

more like it's ok to be cucked by your bbb (big blue buddy) out of scares

i was just about to post a thread asking how none fucking noticed they all dreamt of fucking monsters every night
i mean i guess thats normal
but joke telling monsters
there has to be at least ONE reddit thread about that in the monsters inc world
some shit like "anyone else have these wierd dreams as a kid were a monster would make you laugh?"

What you guys dont realize is that mike is scary, but not enough. Screams are like power to the monster world and if you cant bring enough of that in then you're better off doing something else in the world. That's why mike can finally contribute at the end of M.inc because laughter is more powerful and Mike finds way more success in that vs scaring, to the point he might have Sully's status at the plant.

>if you're a loser just give up and be a stool for someone who can actually pull it off
Great moral there, Disney.

Why do they just store all the screams in compact individual tanks anyway? It should be connected to several giant tanks when collecting and redistribute it to smaller ones later.

>play to your strengths and use them to work in tandem with others

I fail to see why this is bad.

>just settle for something worse because you weren't born to reach for the stars

That's not what happened, he accepted being second banana, despite having a huge ego.

Someone who would not make It as a soldier can make a great war strategist, sane principle here

So the individual has to sacrifice himself for the good of the whole.
Sounds commie.

>same
fixed

>it's impossible to fly by flapping your arms
>"fuck that nonsense, i'll keep jumping off my house and flapping my arms until i soar into the heavens!"

just like the incredibles no normie will ever view themselves as the "loser"
they'll miss the point and think they could only ever be the incredibles, or sully

I can only imagine it's so they can keep track of how much energy one scarer team produces but can't they just have a meter that calculates the flow?

Syndrome was right, every non super should have the tools to match supers.
The only thing he did wrong was he wanted himself as the sole provider.

The Incredibles were tired of humanity not giving them anything in return, it's a really good idea. but Bird is unfortunately doing a cartoon in the United States, if it was done in Europe and Asia they would have gone more in depth with it
