They’ve made Beavis way more cute and easy to emphasize with and Butt-head way more unquestionably evil and it makes the tone feel darker. Show always mostly just felt like mindless inconsequential cartoon hijinks to me but some of the scenarios in the new one are genuinely depressing

Honestly? Feels like old times. Beavis and Butthead act exactly like they do in the original series. Them reacting to TikToks is weird, but they do still throw some music videos in there, at least.

the 2 segments when they're old are really good
the rest of the segments are severely harmed by what i'm presuming is a mandate that B&B always "lose", presumably because they're misogynist cis white males, so a lot of the episodes end with beavis being tortured. another problem is that a lot of the youtube videos and tiktok videos are more audio-oriented than the music videos of old, which makes B&B talking over the video much less interesting than music vid commentary
while the magic mostly isn't there anymore, it's still enjoyable enough to watch considering the garbage on tv these days. i'm trans btw if that matters

Judge is a master of centrist comedy, he does the “both sides” thing much better than South Park since he seems to feel genuinely disenfranchised from mainstream politics while Matt & Trey’s actual opinion on any given topic is made very blatantly apparent

Rather than be ashamed as the accusation of white privleged is intended to, these two goblins embrace it and take it for all that they think it's worth, in the process revealing that no one actually acts like this and the notion is at the very least exagerated. The thesis is bascially "if white privledge was real this shit would actually happen".

The original series definitely moved in that direction over time. Butthead as the dominant, bad friend to a somewhat helplessly stupid Beavis.

They "lost" a lot of the time in the orignal series, too. Even the really early episodes before it was toned down where they sniff glue and peek on people fucking in a van at the drive-in theater.
They're bascially in the vein of acts like The Three Stooges and Laural & Hardy and many of those skits ended with the main characters "losing" for laughs.

yeah but they would also "win" and commit acts of cruelty on other people. a good comparison would be how in the original series they maliciously kill bugs, and in the new series beavis runs around scared of a grasshopper like a little bitch. but seriously every episode in the new series ends with them losing. the original series had a mix of both
