I think Clarissa is kinda crass and mostly for the shock value but Clarissa is a well written character overall and that's what makes the comic worth in my opinion and not just pedobait/sensationalism, the realistic look and exploration of the mind of a kid that is being molested.
But the father us such a shitty character, I'm not saying he needs to be a 'good guy" or even humanized since it defies the point of the comic, but his reasons are just fucking nonsense, why just not make him a pervert who can only fuck kids or sadic enough he just does it for the kicks instead of trying to rationalize him with such a shitty excuse that his job make him so stressed he needs to rape his kid? I'm not getting something here, is that it? Because that shit makes no sense to me.
Where his reasons ever explored ? I don't remember the comic ever giving information clarissa herself doesn't have access to.

At the end of Peek after her expend the day with at work he goes on this rant about how he works all day, he hates it and all he wants to do is get home or some shit like that. Is the only time we have this look at what he is thinking and for me is kind heavily implied is the author trying to rationalize part of why he does this sort of thing since is one of the only times he talks about how he is feeling.

user you'd be surprised how often abusers use "I have a hard life" as an excuse to do awful shit. "I bust my ass at work" is a common abuse excuse that it's a fucking trope in fiction

From the point of view of someone with an abusive father, I found it fairly well written. It's always "me, me, me" with those types, and how hard they work and how much you don't appreciate them. Sociopaths just lack empathy and want everyone to be nice to them because they deserve it.
Dude, at best his rant is some kind of justification he tells himself, at worst he's actually trying to emotionally manipulate Clarissa to make her less resistant to him raping her. Or the rant is actually just him bitching about his job and he doesn't actually have any qualms about what he's doing considering he was fine bringing the daughter he's abusing to work with him. At no point does the comic ever treat him as anything other than a monster.

it's also pretty obvious he's not a honest person and frequently blames others for things he's responsible of. What he says shouldn't be taken at face value, but rather as emotional manipulation from an abuser.
If goes through the realistic side? She never tells anyone until she's 40 and when she does people 1. don't believe her, 2. pretend not to believe her because it's too much trouble, 3. Don't care, 4. Judge her for never telling anyone or going to the police and don't understand how she feels because despite being a evil motherfucker still is her father and she probably still loves him to some level 5.Think it's kinda hot, 6.Make fun of her on the internet.

Yeah, with what anons said and me thinking about it does seems more like he manipulating her to do what he wants. But that's not the impression I got when I first read trough it because he does goes on a rampage and feels like is one of the few times he is being sincere and not acting like a douche for the sake of it.

Yeah, but he's also unreasonable in his complaints in that moment, iirc he blames her for her peanut allergy and explains that he has to work hard because of her, and that she doesn't appreciate all that he does for her, while at the end of the chapter implying she needs to give him sexual favors to earn her mc donalds. Dude just says whatever bullshit is the most self-serving at the time.
