New episode comes out Thursday. Let's have a thread to talk about it
>Episode 103 – “Reign of Winter” >Chanda’s life is on a loop; Maddie and David make up for time lost; Ellen tries to move on from her dead husband; Caspian watches his parents’ marriage disintegrate while trying to start a romance of his own.
I hope this show can improve. It has some potential but the start was only a little above decent imo. Also I want to ask you anons before the next episode if you trust the AI of Maddie's dad. I don't know why but the way he introduced himself with the videogame felt a little manipulative.

In the original trilogy he's a completely good guy throughout so you shouldn't really worry about that.
I'm not sure about Caspian and Chanda however.
Chanda is the antagonist in the trilogy but he also shares some traits with Adam Ever, the Singularity champion who is morally dark gray in the original. I wonder how that will play out in the series
Caspian is a completely new character so there's no reference to what he'll be in Pantheon
I'll take your word for it now, but I wouldn't put it past the adaption to take some creative liberties with the Dad and his relationship with the family. The way the ending to last episode was directed and the description for this episode "Ellen tries to move on from her dead husband" it seems like the show is gonna go more in depth on the idea of whether or not the AI David is the 'real' David so to say. I actually really liked that scene desu Maddie is literally in tears hugging her computer and the Mom just seems so conflicted.
While it's not talked about that much in the trilogy, Ken Liu did write a story that goes in depth about UI vs flesh here: clarkesworldmagazine.com/liu_10_11/
In fact there's a passage when the protagonists read a letter from their dead mom as a UI who claims that she feels fine in the cloud:
>Laura cried as she read it. But I felt nothing. This wasn’t my mother speaking.
>This was a simulacrum of her, a recording of propaganda, a temptation into nihilism.
It would be interested if they incorporate this into Pantheon. The beginning of the series foreshadowing family conflicts would fit into the situation as well.

I hope there'll be more discussion when the new episode actually comes out
I would like it if they went into making a UI "different" especially since they explicitly said that he was a important step to making a fully UI, but weren't there yet. Say Maddie doesn't notice too much since she desperately wanted her dad back but Ellen notices that he's missing a lot of little quirks that add to the sum of his parts, or maybe he's too "perfect" in some areas where he wasn't before. It's David-like but it's not David. More like a odd in between of a super advance chatterbot with David's info & David.
There are some aspects of Adam Ever's company Everlasting Inc in Pantheon's version of the Logorhythms, like having the servers in Svalbard and having a pristine white guy to look up to. So Chanda will not completely be like Adam in a sense that he owns a company and all that.
So my theory is that he'll form a death cult. While Logorhythms simply wants to perfect UIs, Chanda will try to convince the world to upload themselves into the Singularity and, like Chanda in the trilogy, will try to accelerate the apocalypse and "move on" to the post-scarcity world.

Hopefully the good quality mega will be posted first this time
I picked it up because of these threads. I would've never heard of the show without them. I think the show is pretty interesting. Also, Maddie is cute.

This series is supposed to be serious but I can't take one of the main characters seriously when she looks like this
I'd like to see her hooked up to that machine Chanda was hooked up to, just to see her utterly terrified. I'd also like to be groomed by Caspian's mom.

wait THOUGHT YESTERDAY WAS THURSDAY WHAT THE FUCK I WAITED ALL DAY FOR THIS

If the trilogy is anything to go by, Maddie will at least see a recording of Chanda's dissection through her VR glasses
