For the most part these are really well done, but I think even doing Dexter in “the PPG style” is a dumb idea because the shows literally have the same art style pretty much. They should’ve chosen a different show.

In this case specifically, the issue is twofold. It's already a common amateurish mistake in general because either the artist in question either never watched the show in question, or doesn't care about truly diving into an artstyle to see how it works just for a single pic. To them it's just not worth the investment when they can just take the main characters of a given show, use them as templates and call it a day. It's not like the audience that consumes this low effort slop would know the difference.
But here it's also because Dexter's Lab isn't really all that stylistically different from the PPG, due to being made by the same people. Dexter in the PPG style would just be Dexter, making the exercise pointless.
