What is the Neon Genesis Evangelion of cartoons? I assume that it could be Watchmen for comics but I don't know what the NGE of cartoons is.
What is the Neon Genesis Evangelion of cartoons...
The Simpsons
king of the hill
This
Monster-of-the-week Power Rangers with depressed teens in school.
Watchmen was nothing in common with eva
There isn't, it would be too dark for kids. probably Infinity Train but it doesnt come as close???
Neon Genesis Evangelion is a cartoon
If you mean decent, but grossly over-rated, I submit this for your consideration.
I was going to say BTAS, but Samurai Jack fits the bill much better. BTAS is more like Gundam 0079 by which I mean it's far superior and actually worthy of its praise.
>unreasonably popular
>"twists" genre conventions
>fans insist it's deeper than it actually is
>later installments retroactively ruin the earlier good stuff
>creator hates the fans that made him popular
>other works have tried to copy what it did, to varying degrees of success
>merchandising juggernaut
Rick and Morty.
Batman Beyond
Peanuts.
Arcane. It's also better.
Tbh that show is nothing special. I would say Rick and Morty. And I would watch Rick and Morty any day over nge, anime characters mostly are annoying.
>There isn't, it would be too dark for kids.
NGE is actually a shonen, just like Attack on Titan.
It would be a cartoon that became a huge and enduring success and greatly changed the industry. But it would still be stupid to go around calling it the NGE of cartoons just because of that.
It's an anime.
Better how? They're very different kinds of shows. Not literally everything needs to be a competition.
In terms of its impact on the industry, its Adventure Time.
I didn't realize Watchmen wasn't a deconstruction that seemingly loathes the culture around it?
anime is cartoons
it was the NGE of cartoons of the 2010's
None of the examples itt are actually deconstructions.
So here you go user, the NGE of cartoons.
Unironically, The Lego Movie
Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures, 1987, produced by Ralph Bakshi
If you mean that it was way too deep on its own ego and made many bullshit philosophies on its run time along with a clear lack of direction then yes it fits perfectly
No, those are two different things. The burden of proof is on you to demonstrate otherwise.
I am unironically the Evanghelion of cartoons.
>None of the examples itt are actually deconstructions.
Neither is NGE.
user you can hate popular thing all you want, but it's still a deconstruction of mecha anime.
People only think that because they don't know any mecha anime earlier than NGE.
Gundam, Macross, Gunbuster, are all pretty well known.
tbqf I tried watching Gundam and it was just the most tedious fucking soap opera bullshit I've ever seen.
