The gems aren't an improvement, or much of a change, from the Jumi people at all. In fact the only real change I can see is that the stupid queer cunt made her Jumi all annoying, sappy lesbians from space.
It's a matter of taste, but in any case, Steven is not a lazy copy, but building a separate universe on already existing ideas, Japanese do it all the time (see Jojo and Shaman King), it's called collective development of ideas and this is how progress is made.
