Tell me why superheroes like Spider-Man shouldn't reveal their identities to the world.
Secret identities are outdated and MCU did it right by not having identities at all.
>But his friends and family could get in danger
If the villain wanted to hit his friends he would simply follow him and hit them, the secret identity means nothing here if the villain is stupid and doesn't even try to kill the hero for real

>If the villain wanted to hit his friends he would simply follow him and hit them
You DO know that the heroes try to avoid that from happening, right? That they will never go home unless they are 100% sure that there is no one following him, right? As villains have tried that before, right? You're not actually retarded and are just pretending, right?

>MCU did it right by not having identities at all
>Posts picture of the one MCU character with an entire movie devoted to his secret identity and the problems associated with it
What did OP mean by this?

You’re lying if you actually think that, most heroes do not care about being careful enough to not be seen entering their home. It’s just bad headcanon, there’s several panels and the Raimi movies that do not care about that.

It would have worked in 2002 maybe but now with cameras everywhere there’s 0 chance anyone has a secret identity unless you literally own the city’s electronic grid like Batman.

>pretending this is a serious argument
Not him, but no. This is a broad narrative convention that never stands up to scrutiny. The heroes are up against highly intelligent, competent opponents that test their own abilities, but only the good guys know how to plant a tracker or simply tail someone a few miles on a random day (except in any other situation, where the villains can do it)? Nonsense. This only works because writers decree secret identity characters have this special plot armor unless an event comes up where it needs to go away temporarily.

Made for a good story

>For the last time, yes, Heroes are retarded and want their friends and families getting horrifically murdererd by Supervillains. Of course they don't take any kinds of precautions to prevent that. Are you some kind of fucking idiot that thinks different?

You do aware that most Marvel heroes doesn't have a lot of ordinary supporting characters like Spider-Man, right?

>strawman
concession accepted
that was fast

>"Secret identities are outdated and MCU did it right by not having identities at all."
>Posts a picture from a comic where a hero outs himself and it is instantly proven to be a terrible idea as his close family members are targetted for assassination and he has to fuck the universe through the wringer just to undo it.

That was a forced status quo induced shit, if Peter really cared about his Aunt May life he would ask protection from SHIELD or live in the Avenger Tower.
>She dies anyway
She is old, should have died during that story where she is on her final days and told Peter she always knew he was Spider-Man

>be superhero
>just got done watching Iron Man 1 and thought it was cool how he just outed himself.
>decide to do just that

>Villains know where I'm at and likely going to be at all times.
>Everyone keeps trying to take pictures of me and stalk me
>men and women keep trying to fuck me and have my baby
>can't find anyone that likes me for me anymore.
>government keeps watching me and everything I do
>someone bugged my computer and found out what kind of weird fetish porn I like
>gets posted all over twitter
>cant even shitpost on Any Forums anymore without getting canceled every other week
>villains keep trying to force me out in the open by targeting friends and family
>go to smoke a cig
>newspaper headline reads "LOCAL HERO SUPPORTS UNDERAGE DRUG USE"
>Play Yugioh
>LOCAL SUPERHERO RUNS SKULL SERVANTS AND HERE'S HOW TO BEAT HIM

The list goes on.
But atleast I get free 5 piece chicken nuggets from McDonalds now and then for saving the town.

Yeah not really, the secret identity is more to protect their normal life than any sort of satefy measure. Peter Parker wants to still keep his life normal as a civvie and have the OPTION of going out as Spider man. There's been times where he's quit and it works because of this.

Same for Iron Man, Tony doesn't want his company being compromised by Iron Man stuff, because the movies just absolutely completely forget about Stark actually running a company. Could you imagine how many investors would pull out and how much drama there would be if the owner of one of the biggest tech companies killed people every week and endangered civilians and put their own life on the line? The Nolan Batman films do an OK job kinda barely explaining this, but not really.

>and how much drama there would be if the owner of one of the biggest tech companies killed people every week and endangered civilians and put their own life on the line?
Nothing, every corp does it daily and we simply meme about it

>Could you imagine how many investors would pull out and how much drama there would be if the owner of one of the biggest tech companies killed people every week and endangered civilians and put their own life on the line
I mean, that sound like fun premire for Iron Man comic
But, you know, Marvel writer

Spider-Man uses his spider-sense to detect if he's being watched while he goes back to his home

Last time Peter unmasked, he had to sell his marriage. Wasn't once enough?

Infinity Inc was a rarity in the 80s due to them straight up revealing their identities in a press Q&A in the first few issues of their run.

It's interesting when most of them were related to JSA so they just.. kinda revealed their parents' identities?

>Spider Sense
Yeah.... it's not like Goblin can create a gas that disable the spider sense like the one he already used...

The only problem Peter had from being outed as Spiderman was the assumption he had murdered someone due to Mysterio's dead man switch, otherwise he was treated like a rockstar

I mean, the MCU treats the avengers like celebs so there's no real incentive to hide your identity there
