Feminine portrayal in comics

How come in the 80s & 90s big boobs and skimpy outfits were seen as completely fine for female comic/cartoon characters but now it's deemed to be gross and offensive?
Explain it for an oldhead like me.

no one challenged men and held them accountable on it because women had way way way less power in society it wasnt that it was seen as ok its that only men made it and consumed it and loved it and women couldnt do shit about it so men laughed and jerked off and didnt give a fuck

now men have respect and taste and class

Modern comic book creators do not know their target audience so they listen to dumb fucks from twitter who do not like or read comics in the first place.

Comics were largely disregarded as puerile nonsense for manchildren back then so mainstream society didn't pay any attention to it. Now days there are all the movies and the Internet puts everything everywhere so they try to pretend to be respectable.

Those comics were held in the same regard as the trashiest weeb stuff today, the ones plainly meant to appeal to loser coomer dudes at the expense of alienating any remotely respectable customer.

>now men have respect and taste and class
Most "men" nowadays are barely any different from limp-wrist faggots
Why does social media have such an influence? How can something like that matter that much?

Idk bro 80s era DC and Marvel were just as coom inducing

>Why does social media have such an influence? How can something like that matter that much?

Old people running companies don't understand how social media works so they let young people handle it
Young people overvalue social media and overdo it, not realizing how much they're leaving on the table due to shortsighted actions

I wonder what it'll be like when those old people are all gone. Jesus.

>remotely respectable customers
>reading comics
>reading capeshit comics
Lol

>were seen as completely fine
They weren't. You were just a zygote and not aware of the pushback, especially due to the fact that everyone was on dial up at best and couldn't pour gas on each others outrage fires.

I mean it's not like much has changed, but you can at least appreciate the attempt. If you can get normalfags to care about capeshit in movies (to much financial success), why not think the same can be done for comics?

Sex Negative and Sexual conservatism masquerading as "feminisinsm" tricking people into abandoning and betraying sexual Liberalism.

To be fair it varies from company to company and from book to book even. Zenoscope and Dynamite have the kind of material your looking for generally. DC is much better on average with keeping heroines in costumes with classic design elements and sexual attractiveness with a few hiccups here and there. Marvel at least reverted She Hulk to normal finally and seems to be willing to let her, Magik, and Kwannonlocke show skin for now while still insisting on captain carol being covered.

Prude. Theres nothing wrong with men jacking off to images hot women. You prudes probably want to try and ban pornography altogether. You no different than the religious right.

>Posting Liefield "art"
He was known for over-defined hyper sexual characters. Even his males are like that. Pic related. Of course, sex sells so he got popular. People imitate what is popular until either it falls out of fashion or people wise up and realize it sucked from the start.

Yes, you still can find sexy women in comics. However, they will have more realistic proportions as that is in vogue. Some even are curvy and soft for the people into a little meat on the bones. I am happy to see variety in my art.

Modern nu-comics are held in less regard than toilet paper

The only part your right about is you prudes existed, but what you don't mentioned is you called yourselves church groups and ptas.

>why not think the same can be done for comics?
If you think normalfags will get into cape comics because the women are less scantily clad, then boy do I have bad news for you.
Allow me to introduce to you the most popular, highest-selling graphic novel in America right now.

Shonen has traditionally been for kids and teen boys though, clueless execs saw everyone showering The Dark Knight in 08 and thought, "how do we get them to buy the books?"
