Darker than the average disney film

>darker than the average disney film
>a cast of diverse ethnic groups
>visuals awaiting to be abused by cgi
By the perspective of Disney this would be an adequate choice for a live action remake. No?

yes it is also a good film with impressive animation.
But it flopped HARD so they wont touch it

It had guns and smoking and people dying on-screen. Why don't disney make shit like this anymore -_-

This is one of the very few Disney films that could actualy have a decent live action film. Instead, they make live action The Lion King like the retards that they are.

Because the Lion King made them a shitload of money

It makes sense if you stop holding onto the idea that Disney gives a shit about making art anymore

Why can't we have diversity like this anymore? It's ironic how movies and shows back then had better diversity than nowadays and without even trying.

shame it came out less than 1 month after Shrek. It's a very solid film

It seems like it's more about intentionally pissing people off at this point

Sweet was a fucking half African half Naked American and he was based and Mollier was on the same order of human being as Nobby Nobbs

Shit Audrey was a Latina mechanic with a sister who was a championship boxer

You and I both know an Atlantis remake would be soulless as fuck.

But user if they made Atlantis they wouldn't have the resources of making a WIllow Sequel.

I liked Willow!

damn shame it'll never happen

Disney Theme Parks are full of darker then average Atlantis/Treasure Planet type stuff to the point where Imagineering's been lumping all the Atlantis-esque pulp adventure/steampunk adjacent stuff into a shared universe.

The real problem Disney has is that the Princess Industrial Complex rotted the studios brains and trained the audience to only ever expect PIC content from their animation studios.

Walt always saw money as a tool to make art or whatever crazy shit he was on about now, not something to be hoarded for its own sake.

No, the Frozen movie ride replaced the Vikings and Trolls boat ride at Epcot.

>without even trying.
that's exactly the point, modern shit is doing diversity as a "fuck you" to white people whereas older stuff had different characters because it made the main cast more fun.
Diversity in fiction and in real life only works when it's not forced.

worth it for the lore

She was too good for this world.

>Explodes 10 minutes later
Great scene, though. The Leviathan's design is still fantastic

Disney has buried this movie. A remake of this is about as likely as a remake of Chicken Little.

A brazen plagiarism of "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water" that raises the only question, why does the fucking mouse get away with it?

It still has more in common with Stargate than Nadia

Do you know those stupid “fetish awakening” comics? I think this cartoon did something like this to me but with machinery designs. That and the gibli movies

You have to appreciate the irony of disney "trying" to capture the boy market by doing those live action boy films, like John Carter, TRON Legacy etc and them all flopping or outright bombing so they just buy Marvel instead. And the they buy Lucaafilm and try to make the series for girls.

And then they are sitting on Atlantis and Treasure Planet which are near perfect for the boy market and live action treatment.

Just imagining the monkeys at disney trying to figure out how to make films for boys and not being able to for 20 yeara is hilarious. And to have the SW stuff ending up pivoting to girls.
