Rick's nihilism in the first two seasons was funny because he kept trying to force it on other people but nobody really took his ideals, they just became upset for a moment, but in season 3 pretty much everyone becomes as nihilistic as Rick and it's lame

misunderstood
if by 'nihilism' people mean succumbing to existential dread, 'doomerism' then it can sometimes be interesting for some villains (owl man, etc) but is quickly becoming cliche. The worst aspects of this lazy bullshit is connecting the depressive, submission to nihilism to Nietzsche's philosophy which was absolutely against this submission. Will to power, ubermench, all of it has nothing to do with absolute despair over the state of the world. The lazy cliche is the depressed teenage white boy who gets bullied (even though the Collumbine kids WERE the bullies, this myth persists that they were laughed at and ridiculed to the point they planned a massacre for 'revenge' --- the truth was one of them was a sociopath with all the classic and boring psychology and he convinced the other over years of manipulation and his goal was the same as Berkowitz and Rader: fame) decides life has 'no meaning' and then becomes a smart boy by reading Steppenwolf or Nietzsche and then plans some kind of terrorist act.
By this point it would be far more interesting for some character who understands Nietzsche's philosophy and lives more or less like a wandering bum who gives no shits.

Human emotions are so fragile. It's obviously an evolutionary survival mechanic. The reality is that most people are uncomfortable about the idea that death is real and has to happen.

Death still scares me but I know it's inevitable and I know it's not malevolent. The Grim Reaper gets a bad reputation despite only being the personification of death, he holds no values and doesn't chose. I know that after death I'll be back in a new animal body with a new state of mind - worrying about death all over again as the cycle continues. That doesn't make my mind at ease though.
