It's a great ideal. We were never truly there, but we aspired to be. Maybe closer than most because we rose into super-power after WWII and our enemy crumbled all on their own.

Allowing people the freedom to make their own choices was the defining feature of capitalism vs the USSR's centralized economy that dictated jobs and wages and quotas. Freedom simply works better. But after Russia tumbled, that message was no longer opposed. It was effectively proven true and simultaneously abandoned. There was no counter-point that anyone worried about.

It's still a great ideal, but unfortunetely a small handful of players have gotten way too good at steering the idiotic populous. They make the puppets dance in anger about made up problems like race and gender. They divide everything along two sides they can easily sway. The media propaganda is simply too powerful and they're running the nation. When people start voting to their own detriment simply because angry TV man said so, that whole liberty thing is fucked.

We need a strong 4th estate that competes with each other and tears down anyone that can be proven to be untrustworthy. This "post-truth" environment is the root of US rot.

Bush lied and lead us into an unjust war for a worse tomorrow. The American way was a beautiful ideal, but one that died long ago. Kids don't even remember it once existed.

They want to sell Superman to international audiences who don’t read Superman comics
Plus the epic wholesome Superman from post crisis (probably even later than that) gets rid of anything someone might find slightly objectionable because “well if Superman says it that means we as a company support it because he is perfect”
So you can’t have Superman being even a little sexist or act like a jerk because then by extension the writer would also be sexist or a jerk

America sucks ass, and no one truly epitomizes The American Way more than Lex Luthor at this point. The American Way and A Better Tomorrow are antithetical concepts at this point. By all means though, Pledge your allegiance, demand that God Bless the place, and keep telling yourself you live in a land of the Free.

Feels weird that an alien that saves people worldwidely has to have a country reference in his motto.

He's not a diplomat, not a political figure nor a general. He's just a dude that wants to help and due to that reason, I think "a Better Tomorrow" fits better
