Why aren't European Comics as popular as Manga in the United States?
Furthermore, why does Manga have dedicated sites for translating Japanese releases? Why does no one have the same passion for European comics?

Ideological differences. European comics are too lewd and too communist.
Because Mangas/Animes draw young people in withflavour of the year Isekai/Shounen. It's exciting, colourfull, and weird enaugh to at least be a little bit countercultural.
Theres no "hype" about french arthouse comics, cause it's not about simple charackters punching each other and if you made them part of youre teenage identity you would aound pseudo-intellectual
It's all just typical European cynicism and that doesn't interest me.
This is more a personal theory than backed on data, but manga are sold in very compact books that can easily be put into a backpack, while European albums show off their art nicely, but are in very bulky books.

Most euro comics are like that.
This is the cause.
There are exceptions like Asterix, Dungeon and such but US publishers usually publish average to mediocre books to make sure the US public buys them.
Yeah, The Smurfs turned me into a communist who reads Camus and Sartre every day. kek
Any recommended reading for someone that hasn't read many Euro comics?
I've read Moomin and have a few Dredds
>arthouse
That they are not. Do no use terms you do not understand, most band desinee are still genre fiction.
>Why aren't European Comics as popular as Manga in the United States?
because maybe they’re not as good as you think?
Because burgers are dumb. Really though, manga is way more accesible and often has artstyles that appeal to more people
Siegfried by Alex Alice
Blast by Manu Larcenet
Didn't this get a tv show? Moonknight something.
>Theres no "hype" about japanese shounen comics, cause it's not about simple charackters engaging in sexual acts with children and if you made them part of your identity you would aound pedo-intellectual
because they dont animate it or make video games out of it.
If you grew up with pokemon , of course you're gonna find japanese artstyle more appealing
European comics really aren't that good and are heavily overrated. The "greatest" are often very average.
Comics in general are a pretty low quality medium, even manga is very niche and would be a lot smaller if most manga didn't have anime adaptations.
Beause they suck
Same reason that euros don't read Philip k dick or Harlan Ellison.
>They hated him because he told the truth
This, Eurocomics aren't appealing to the audience that reads manga. They're either drawn in really rendered"look at me, I'm art!" styles that still look generally stiff and unexciting as a sketchy manga drawing with a ton of speedlines, or really cartoony styles that don't look cool. The characters are unengaging and often detestable, and the stories go nowhere after years. Part of the reason manga is so popular is that it floods people with content . Eurocomics go for drip feeding and even years later you barely get a story.
>But they're not all like that!
No normal person under the age of 40 wants to read Asterix. Eurocomics protagonists just aren't cool. Even in Europe, heir native comics aren't as popular with newer generations as manga is.
They have good taste?
