Spider-Man can't save the MCU because they don't even own all the rights to that stuff. It's not like Batman where you can literally just make Batman the star and have everything play off him if DC wasn't completely retarded with retarded actors that keep having personal problems.
The MCU really thrives because of the overall narrative of the universe. Right now, there's nothing to really look forward to so people are judging these movies solely on their own and they either are divided on it like most of their movies have been, or they don't watch at all like Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel no matter how much critics dicksuck those projects.
