Don't let your dreams be dreams

How'd they take someone so bland and make him so perfect?

Sometimes I'll work on a grid for an hour or more, only to end up deleting it.

So I'm genuinely curious, what makes good manservice in a male character? For men there are a couple of female archetypes that work pretty well, but 'pretty boys' tend to top the list whenever I see media made to appeal to women.
Some common archetypes for men I see include:
>Keen Nerd: Intelligent, but more important, witty, which makes it easier to appreciate his oddities and provides good conversation. Tends to be quite fun to be around, and defeats his enemies through guile primarily. In superhero genres, this guy tends to be a 'skill master' or a speedster.
>Mercenary Hero: The classic bad boy and relentless cynic, but still on the side of good even as he's gutting bastards like fish. This is an archetype that tends to rely a lot on their looks, because their whole deal is they don't want to be emotionally involved in their dirty work.
>Dark Prince: Somewhat selfish nobleman whose selfishness extends to the people he cares about a la 'you're not allowed to hurt them because they're mine' and usually has a lot of intelligence or at least power to make good on his bravado.
>French Vanilla: He's just genuinely a good person and has a strong sense of justice, usually coming from a rigid background but not being completely confined by it. The devil is in the details here, because when deciding on details to add to him to make him a real person, anything too much in one direction can overwhelm the universal appeal, but not enough makes him bland.
Physical features are a bit easier to do, because that tends to run the gamut but have a few common points, like athleticism and height.
As a guy, it's sometimes hard to write characters women might find attractive, but what I tend to go with is what I would enjoy a woman saying about me. I could write for ages as to what kinds of female characters I find attractive and why, but I'd like to hear it from the other end.

Attraction is weird. I feel nothing for this Riddler or any other Riddler but many chicks dig him because he's so pathetic. Like, his lack of social graces is the draw.
