The scene where they're kids solving a mystery was the best part of the whole movie, and that's unfortunately the first 15 minutes. It felt like a love letter to A Pup Named Scooby Doo. Being able to see how the bullshit cartoony fake ghost plot worked by seeing the strings and gears was actually a lot of fun, you don't really get to see that in Scooby Doo. It's just handwaved later and you're supposed to believe that it was smoke and mirrors without SEEING how it actually worked, or the more modern version where they actually are just fighting ghosts now.
Because I knew ahead of time the movie was going to have references to other characters, I half expected Red Herring to get set up early on in their childhood and then come back later as a joke.
It's a really fucking bad Scooby Doo movie once they reach their adults. It's almost a better Dick Dastardly movie if anything.

It's not that the show is shit, the formula is workable and multiple iterations of it existed through generations of animation. I just kinda don't get who decided to turn it into a neverending franchise. The characters aren't particularly amazing.

You can watch it if you're a big Dick Dastardly fan. He's kino there. A take somehwat unlike the traditional one, but very kino regardless, and by far the best character in the film.
As a Scooby movie, however, it fails on every level.
