DC's big SDCC comics announcement - 5G similar but separate

DC will announce a new universe and a new line of comics, with a timeline similar (but not exactly the same) as the leaked 5G timeline. These books will feature the new legacy heroes as the main characters. They will be published under the Black Label imprint and in seasons, the first of them coming out in 2023 after the end of Dark Crisis.

The comics will be geared to the direct market and but also especially bookstores, where it is known that diverse characters and stories are likely to do better. The plan is to put out miniseries and then quickly collect them for sale in bookstores. The line will be much smaller than DC's usual universe, with 3-5 miniseries running at the same time and titles will switch on and off. You can expect to see around 5-10 volumes of 5G comics a year. Also, expect to see art and storytelling styles not regularly seen in big two superhero comics but more in common with indie comics and graphic novels. The thinking behind the line is very much what can we do when we have been freed from DC history and expectations of what a DC comic is or looks like.

There are overarching plans for the line, and plans that have been plotted out years in advance, and it will be more interconnected than the usual Marvel and DC comics universes. Some of the people involved are Ta-Nehisis Coates, Al Ewing, John Ridley, Joelle Jones, Tini Howard, Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction, Kelly Sue Deconnik, Pornsak Picheshote, Tom King, Bilquis Evely and Vita Ayala. The first titles will be Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Checkmate/Green Arrow (one title, not sure of the exact name).

Contains all the worst, most egotistical writers to black label shit and allows writers who just want trunks on Batman and Superman, Bruce and Clark (who has his secret identity back), while they have simple meat and potatoes good vs evil stories with Hal, blonde Arthur, Barry, Diana and J’onn.

Hell maybe if Jon Kent is having big gay stories in black label we can see Clark go back in time and save kid Jon.

How? A containment line for woke garbage mostly geared toward book store collections is exactly what they need. No reason to subject ongoing readers to their trash when we just want classic stories all of these writers would hate to read or write
