Does anyone else miss bimbo Harley?

I don't remember. Perhaps if you posted more of her antics.

i miss bimbos in general

You mean Arleen Sorkin? yes.

My sticking point isn't how "bimbo" Harley is, it's that she should be an extension of the Joker's character, not a character who stands alone. She's a very cool character, but conceptually she relies on the Joker for context. Trying to make her a solo character is just throwing her original concept out altogether.

Nah

Present-day Harley has become a case of "we'll continue to beat you down with this until you like it"

and unfortunately it's working.

Eh you could say the same thing about Nightwing.
There is only so much you can do with "abused sidekick with Stockholm syndrome".
The problem isn't them splitting her off from Joker, it's them writing her badly.

>and unfortunately it's working.
speak for yourself.

Did it, though?
>Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad bombed
>Super Hero Girls and the Harley show do more or less fine (although the later was cancelled) but they are ensemble shows and Harley wouldn't last alone
>Harley's comics sell like the rest of current American comics, that is like so much shit

>the latter
I meant the former, sorry. I'm posting in a hurry.

Kinda annoys me how recent incarnations of her completely ignore this. If she was smart enough to get a psychology degree then she would be smart enough to not get manipulated by the joker.

This is silly, intelligence and psychological fortitude are maybe correlated but not strongly so; I went to school with lots of high-IQ dames and I wouldn't trust them not to get Jokered. I'm not a feminist, actually something of an anti-feminist, but acting like this is a necessary explanation is stupid. It just makes the character less threatening, serious, meaningful, etc.

This. Being smart doesn't protect you from manipulation. All it takes is the right combination of shit like "my mommy/daddy never loved me" or "I'm alone" or "I hate myself" and anyone can be swayed with the right button pushing.

Lots of people with high-level degrees are morons.

What do you mean? She's ever present. What I miss is Harley in a skintight suit.

I think Harley comes off as dumb because of how cartoonishly evil Joker is. Also I’ve never heard of a situation like this happening irl. By that I mean a criminal manipulating a trained therapist/ psychiatrist to commit crimes for them. Usually psychopaths manipulate vulnerable people who aren’t in positions of power. I guess I’m the end it’s a cartoon that has a dude dressing up as a bat, so maybe I shouldn’t be taking it so seriously.

the thing is that Nightwing had potential as a spy and works way better when not affiliated so much with Batfam. But DC is so adament on keeping Dick as a sidekick to Batfam. Which is opposite to them being adament on Harley being a solo character.

To add to , Joker is supposed to be much smarter than the 'average' smart people.
