He's not trapped in the soul stone. They basically had one of the villains irreversibly DESTROY Hank's soul during a lead up to the Infinity Warps event via eating it complete with "brain has a fantasy of being rescued" bit where Hank's poor brain snaps and imagines the Avengers rescuing him in his final seconds as his soul was destroyed by way of a demon monster eating it.

So fans are fucked because they explicitly stated there is no coming back from that particular abomination eating a soul, so they'll have to import a Hank from a parallel universe, find a leftover Skrull who has Hank's memories inside of him, or create a new construct in his image with partial memories created by the Avengers, who ALL basically told Pymtron in his last appearance a year or two ago that they never liked Pym and that they've ALL secretly hated him all along, to pump the construct full of memories to recreate a flawed facsimile of Hank's consciousness/personality.

I seriously hate how the comics do this to Hank. He slaps a bitch ONE TIME while under a psychotic break, and he NEVER gets to live it down. Meanwhile, EVERYONE has done worse over a dozen times over, and it's all glossed over. Hank doesn't deserve this.

Over in DC land, Deathstroke groomed a teenager and got a 50 issue solo comic that just concluded two years ago, and there's no way Marv Wolfman didn't know what he was doing.

It's one of those things that being written by a piece of shit nobody likes devalues the run and whatever happened during it.
Hey now, I liked it too (aside from the hasty end). But the problem is the writer involved. And even Slott never really followed up on the Scientist Supreme thing which is why many think it was just Loki messing with Hank.
